Photographs from some of our events over the last 5 years. Hope you enjoy our slideshow above.
A group of residents and TRA members who successfuly petitioned the local bus company to reinstate our 297 bus route to enable us to have more accessibility to our local hospital Russells Hall. Unfortunately the service has yet again been removed from part of our estate. Maybe another fight on the way!!
At the beginning of June Volunteer Week (1-7 June 2013) we had the opportunity of thanking our own volunteers who have helped us since we started. This photograph shows representatives of our TRA presenting our local school, Ellowes Hall Sports College, with their very own volunteer certificates.
As you can see we also have help from our local Cubs and Scouts, St James Cubs & Scouts, and again we were able to present them with volunteer certificates. These young people help us without any hesitation, they are an inspiration to us all as a community. Together with their team leaders and our TRA help us on our annual litter pick collecting litter that other people leave in our street. A very big thank you to them.
gornal flag
We were very pleased to have been approached to be asked to judge the entries for the 2014 Gornal Flag at the end of November 2013. The entries were sent in from our local schools in Lower Gornal and The Straits and to choose the winner was not a job for the fainted hearted.
In the end we agreed on the winning entry which we felt summed up the Gornal area and what it represented and on the 7 December 2013 the flag was unveiled in the presence of the Mayor of Dudley, picture above, with the winning artist. The flag flies very proudly in the Gornal Village outside the Library.

Once again we have had the honour to choice the 2015 Gornal Flag and again the flag flies high outside the local library. Below are just a few photographs, hope you enjoy them as much as we did.
The 2015 Gornal Flag in all its glory. Well done to the winner and a big thank you to all the runners up. All though it was a cold day everyone enjoyed the ceremony
dedication service - november 2014
We are always honoured to be involved in the rememberance service held in November outside of St James' Church Memorial Hall and in November 2014 we were given the chance to build onto this memorable day by joining with the Friends of Cotwall End to organise a tree dedication service whereby a dedication ceremony was held and a tree and plaque was blessed in honour of WW1. We are very proud of this achievement and hope to make this an annual dedication service. Please see below a few photographs taken on that day.

DUDLEY YOUTH AWARDS CEREMONY - march 2015
In November 2014 we put forward the Cadets based at Ellowes Hall Sports College for the Dudley Youth Awards in the Community Group category and we were so pleased when they were short listed. In March 2015 we attended the Awards ceremony and was overjoyed to be there to see them win their category. Well done to them this is a well deserved win. Above are some of the photos taken.
OUR NOTICE BOARDS
Below is a photo of one of our two notice boards now proudly giving information on our TRA and other details that may be of interest to our area. This one is situated on the railings by the shops in Wood Road. The other notice board is situated on the corner of Stickley Lane and Ellowes Road. Please stop and have a read when passing. Hope you enjoy.
CHURCHYARD TIDY UP - JULY 2015
Hope you enjoy the photographs below taken on the 26 July 2015 at St James The Great COE Church, Church Street, Lower Gornal. Our TRA joined forces with Friends of Cotwall End and the new volunteer gardener Les Price as due to the retirement of the previous gardener the churchyard had become very overgrown and we felt that as a community we would together tackle the large area and help Les with the work in hand. This will become an ongoing project and we will be helping out over the coming year to keep the area tidy. Just some of the before and after photos.
TEDDY BEAR'S PICNIC - august 2015
Together with Friends of Cotwall End we organised a Teddy Bear's Picnic on the 15 August 2015. Everyone enjoyed themselves, the weather behaved and we had sun for most of the time which made it a glorious day. There were teddy bears everywhere, toys for the children to play with, even the big kids!! We hope you enjoy the some of the photographs below and we look forward to seeing you at our next one.

christmas in the village - 2015
We made the decision this year to join partners with Gornal Together to bring together a larger community group and from this partnership for the very first time our village had their own Christmas in the Village and the official turning on of the lights together with entertainment for all ages and of course our very own Father Christmas arriving in his very own sleigh. We even had our very own elves. Obviously we hoped for a good turn out and was looking for at least 200 to 300 people what we did not expect was the 2500 that turned up. A very big thank you to all of you for making it a memorable night. Look out for 2016.
Hope you enjoy some of the photos above and apologies if some are slightly dark.
